Duane Roberts

Duane Roberts March 10, 1936--- October 10, 2013

 

Duane and Elaine Roberts were born in Emmett, Idaho to Frank Melvin (Kelly) and Fern Roberts, they were twins. This was kind of rare back in the day. They grew up in Emmett and later moved with the family to Payette where they attended school. Duane tells of growing up in the neighborhood and there were 6 sets of twins in their school in Payette. Duane after high school moved on to work in Florida for a shipping company. He also loved upholstery work and in the 1960's worked for a shop in Hollywood that did custom upholstery for the stars. Duane worked in drywall most of his adult life, working on commercial construction such as hospitals, schools, and malls. He was an excellant craftsman in his trade and a perfectionist. This work allowed him to travel and work in several states and cities such as Salt Lake City, Ut; Seattle, WA; Colorado, California as well as other states. He had many stories to tell of the various places he live and worked.

He was also an avid hot rod fan owing various hot rod cars over the years and collecting various car magazine he could buy. His collection was his pride and joy. He could tell you about every car at a car show and how it started out, was modified, customized and the style of paint. He also had a vast knowledge of his collections and love of books and a thirst for knowledge.

Although Duane spent most of his life working around the country, he retired here and enjoyed getting to know his family in this area better. He was a great brother, uncle and dad.

 

He is survived by 2 sons and a daughter Debbie McLean of Euless, Texas. His sisters Dolly Hoffman Caldwell, ID, Lorrie Holloway Ontario, OR; Elaine Boyce South Jordan, UT; grandchildren and lots of neices and nephews and cousins. Thanks for being such a great brother we will miss you.

 

There will be a memorial for Duane Saturday November 2nd Idaho Pizza 4816 Cleveland Blvd.Caldwell, ID 3:30-5:30 PM. In leiu of flowers donations would be accept at Malheur County Library Ontario, OR in his name.
