Wilma Marie George of Huntington Oregon passed away on Saturday, March 19, in Payette Idaho. Marie was predeceased by her husband of 56 years Leland Eugene (Cotton) George and son Kevin. She is survived by a brother William Snow, son Victor, daughter Susan and two grandchildren Kahla and Kyle.
Marie was born on December 16, 1933 in Boise Idaho to Hazel Townsend, who traveled from Utah to Caldwell by wagon. A resident of Huntington since 1950, Marie was active in the community, serving on the board of the Huntington Museum and other community organizations. You could often find her “treasure hunting” along the Snake river near Farwell Bend or road tripping with her daughter, often to a casino. At Halloween the entire town had to stop by Marie’s to get one of her world-famous popcorn balls. Up until the end Marie lived independently, driving to town, mowing her lawn and even shoveling snow at age 89. She lived her life on her own terms and will be missed by so many people.
