William Bommersbach Obituary

William (Bill) Bommersbach passed away Oct. 21, surrounded by his family. Bill was born March 19, 1941, to Frank and Lucille (Ferbaugh) Bommersbach, in Oakes ND. He was the fourth of eight children.

Bill discovered his passion for life early on when he became a printer’s devil at the age of 12. He graduated high school in 1959 and shortly after came home and told his mom about this “great government job” that he had just got and spent 3 years in the US Army! Following his graduation at North Dakota State School of Science, he went to work at the Ransom County Gazette in Lisbon ND. While working there, he met his future bride and true love (next to printing, of course!), Karen Waloch. They were married 3 months after meeting and spent an “adventurous” 57 years together!

During Bill’s career he worked at a shop in Shakopee MN, owned a newspaper in Herreid, SD, and worked at Inland Printing in Walla Walla, WA before purchasing Payette Printing in 1981. He stayed in business here for 43 years where he forged many great relationships, both business and personal. During his time in Payette, Bill was active in numerous clubs and organizations, including the Wednesday night poker meeting resulting in lifelong friendships.

Bill was a great dad to Tara and Travis, but found that being a Boppa was where all the fun was! Doting (ok…spoiling) his 6 grandkids and 4 great grandchildren was what he enjoyed most in his later years.

Bill was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a printer, a fisherman, a “poor golfer,” a friend and an all-around great guy and he will be remembered by many for years to come.

He is survived by his two children, Tara and Travis, his grandsons Jeffrey (Sofia) Waters, Jared (Kaiden) Waters, Nathan and Josh Bommersbach, granddaughters Spencer and Reagen Bommersbach, great grandchildren Jada Johnson, Willard, Simon and Rosalie Waters, his sisters Bev, Marj, Ann, Mary and Carol, his brother Lew and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his parents Frank & Lucy Bommersbach, step dad George Wallock, sisters Pat Kosbab & Jo Prindiville and his wife Karen.
