Richard Harms, 79, passed away in Caldwell, Idaho on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. He was born in Fresno, California on January 30, 1944 to Harry (Tim) Jr. and Stella (Kathleen) Harms. In the late 60’s early 70’s Richard worked for Boise Parks and Recreation to help build the rock walls bordering the pathways of the Boise Zoo. Those walls can still be admired today.
Before retiring in 2008, Richard worked for several trucking companies: Albertsons (3 years), Garrett (10 years), American Fine Foods (12 years), and ABF (10 years). He was given many safe driving awards through the years.
In 1962, he met and married Betty Deadman and they had two children, Rose and Randy. After his divorce from Betty, he married Jean Day in 1966 and they had two children, Tina and Caroline. During this time, one of Richard’s hobbies was making miniature model airplanes which he flew in competition and won first place many times. Also one of his dreams was to one day fly an airplane and he eventually obtained his private pilot license. Richard and Jean were married until her death in 1993. He met Donna Laurence in 1996 and they were married on May 1, 1997 in Ontario, Oregon. They lived in Sumpter, Oregon for a few years to which four-wheeling became one of his interests. After moving back to Ontario, Richard began his passion as a gamer where he met many friends through his expert gaming ability. Richard also had the skills to put together many computers from scratch for friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Donna, three daughters, Rose Wolff, Tina Russell, and Caroline Strutton, a son Randy Jones, two stepsons, Sean and David Lawrence, sister Joy Dalgarn and half-brother Dale Sharp, extended family, and close friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at Riverside Cemetery, 1969 North River Road, Payette, Idaho on July 8 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be made at the Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel and Crematory website. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
