Maggie James, 87, passed at Brookdale Ontario on May 11. She leaves behind a legacy of humor, laughter, and patriotism. Maggie was dearly loved by those who knew her well. She was first a wife and homemaker but found joy in supplementing the family income as an entrepreneur. She was a room mother, PTA president, seamstress, crochet teacher, and did sewing machine sales and service to name a few. Closest to her heart was her family. Survived by Joy her youngest daughter and son-in-law David OLander of Phoenix, AZ, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and extended family. She joins her husband, Bill, and daughter, Billie, in eternity.
Maggie was born in Farmington, New Mexico and moved to the Treasure Valley as a preschooler. She was raised in New Plymouth where she graduated High School before marrying Bill in 1955. They lived in Idaho, Nevada, and Oregon, then settled in Ontario after Bill retired. They loved road trips and participating in the annual flea markets at their Sumpter property. Maggie and Bill enjoyed dancing and meals with friends at various Treasure Valley Senior Centers.
Maggie loved the Lord Jesus and was baptized in the early 70’s in Milwaukie, Oregon. Maggie was not overly “religious,” but she was quick to acknowledge God’s goodness and answers to prayer. These past few months she was well aware her life on earth was drawing to a close and recounted her readiness to those who visited her. Maggie was physically and spiritually ready to enter into eternity with her Savior and beloved family who have gone before her.
In respect of Maggie’s wishes, no public services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Joni and Friends, PO Box 3333, Agoura Hills, CA 91376. Indicate “in memory of Maggie James.” Online donations: https://joniandfriends.org/.
