Janet Karen Jenkins Sutherland, 83, passed peacefully of natural causes on March 31, 2026, at her home in Eagle, Idaho, surrounded by her six children.
Janet was born on June 10, 1942, in Pendleton, Oregon, to Stanley and Lillian Jenkins and was raised alongside her brothers Gary, Larry, Arlen, Stanley Jr., and Reed. She often spoke of the lasting influence of her parents, whose examples of faith, service, and kindness shaped her life. Growing up, she loved the outdoors, music, and time spent with family.
She married John Sutherland, and together they raised six children: Alden Sutherland (Tammy), Becky Wolery (Kelly), Carla Walter (Shane), Debbie Davidson (Bruce), Eric Sutherland, and Franz Sutherland (Debbie). She was blessed with 34 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren.
Janet devoted her life to her family, creating a home centered on faith, hard work, and love. She faithfully served in many church callings, including Primary and Relief Society President. Throughout her life, she worked in various roles to support her family and later retired from Treasure Valley Hospital in Boise.
Her faith remained steadfast. She served as a temple worker and later as a service missionary at the Bishop’s Storehouse, where she found great joy in serving others. She also loved music and served in many music callings in the church.
Janet will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for her unwavering faith, quiet strength, and devotion to her family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on April 7th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 700 W. State St., Eagle, Idaho.
