Helen was born to Harriet & Edmund Warren in Nyssa, Oregon. She was the youngest of four siblings and last surviving. Helen attended Nyssa schools and finished her senior year at Fruitland Idaho. Helen met Porter Willis in Ontario just weeks before Porter was drafted into the Army, while he was overseas they continued the romance by mail. After his discharge they continued dating until they went to Winnemucca, Nevada in a borrowed car to be married on October 14, 1947 and celebrated 71 years of marriage until Porter passed away in 2019. They had three children Linda, David and Kathy who died as an infant. Helen was employed with the Oregon State DMV for 30 years and enjoyed volunteering at the Nazarene Church. They enjoyed fishing at Owyhee reservoir and spending time in Sumpter Oregon. Traveling on tours around the states and fishing trips to Alaska were also treasured memories. Helen's favorite time was spent in her garden growing flowers, vegetables and peaches. She would talk to them for hours. I think her favorite were the geraniums which she would dig in the fall and keep blooming all winter then replant in the spring. Helen is survived by her two children, Linda (Jim) Getten of Payette, David (Cindy) Willis of New Plymouth, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family will have a private grave side service. Our thanks go to Golden Years Manor and Ancora Hospice for their kind care.
