Harriet Louise Berg-Brier

Harriet Louise Berg-Brier, of Payette, Idaho, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, at the age of 87.

Harriet was born on August 3, 1938, in Minnesota to Louis William Petroske and Fannie Minnie Davis. Following the loss of her father, who worked on the railroad, her mother relocated the family to Spokane, Washington. Harriet attended West Valley High School alongside her sister, Theresa, where she excelled academically and athletically. She spent countless hours on the tennis court and proudly served as her high school’s quarterback. Harriet often joked that she was born in the wrong body—a true tomboy at heart. She enjoyed school dances, pep rallies, and embraced every opportunity to participate in school life.

During her high school years, Harriet met Richard “Dick” Berg, who would later become her husband. Together they shared a love of automobiles and adventure. As a Navy wife, Harriet moved to San Diego, California, where she and Dick raised their two daughters. Harriet built a successful career as a Certified Public Accountant and worked in the accounting profession for more than 20 years.

Harriet lived an active life and made countless memories with family and friends. Whether water skiing, camping, horseback riding, showing horses, or racing cars at Riverside Raceway, she approached life with enthusiasm and determination. She also dedicated time to animal welfare, volunteering with Humane Society rescue efforts to help save animals displaced by the California fires.

Following Dick’s passing, Harriet relocated to Payette, Idaho with her two daughters. Before leaving California, she earned her real estate license and continued a successful real estate career in Idaho, where she was even honored as Realtor of the Year. Harriet remained passionate about the outdoors and embraced Idaho’s natural beauty.

In 1990, Harriet married Jim Brier. Together they enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, and making memories with family and friends.
Harriet was a dedicated grandmother, often attending her grandchildren’s sports and academic events.
She was also an amazing host, often entertaining friends and family for holidays and family celebrations.
When she retired she enjoyed socializing with friends for weekly card games, and meticulously caring for her beautiful garden and home. She loved traveling and volunteering and was an important and influential person in the community.

Harriet is survived by her daughters, Yvette Hollis and husband, Donald Hollis, and Yvonne Korthals and her husband, Mark Korthals.
Her stepchildren, Jerry Brier, Mark Brier and Jan McIntyre. Her granddaughters, Aimee Hollis, Sarah Underwood and her husband, Bryan Underwood, Kimberly Terry, Lorinda Barajas and her husband, Jason Barajas, and Rikki Loudermilk. She also leaves behind 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter expected to arrive in November.

Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, Louis William Petroske and Fannie Minnie Davis, her sister, Theresa White, and her husbands, Richard Berg and Jim Brier.

Harriet will be remembered for her many personal accomplishments, her strong work ethic, and love of family. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the family she cherished so deeply. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

The family will be having a small private celebration at a later time.
