Ellyn (Jones) Hurst

Ellyn Marie Hurst, age 84, of Ontario, Oregon, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

Ellyn was born on December 16, 1940, in Forest Grove, Oregon, to Orval William and Marie Mabel Jones.

She was the devoted mother of eight children: Jaye Sheree (Joseph) Loerzel of Salem, OR; Roger Alvin (Brenda) Pixler of Eutawville, SC; Jon Forrest Capps (deceased); Ronald Duane (Petra) Pixler of Meridian, ID; J.B. Jr. of Vancouver, WA; Robin Roiland of Sartell, MN; Thomas Jason (Anita) Capps of Lakeside, OR; and David Jesse (deceased) (Stephanie) Capps.

A gifted and prolific crafter, Ellyn shared her creativity through quilting, crochet, cross-stitch, embroidery, and knitting. Her handmade pieces were a reflection of her love and patience, cherished by all who received them.

Ellyn is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, Todd Hurst; six children; and six siblings: Sharon Bamford, Lois Pearson, Kay Penton, Arlene King, Rodney Jones, and Quentin Jones.

She was immensely proud of her family, including 23 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, with two more on the way.

Ellyn’s legacy of love, faith, and creativity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
