Raymond Andrew McClure, 87 of Payette passed away Monday, October 25, 2010 in St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, Boise. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 30th at 1:30 p.m. at the Payette United Methodist Church, 502 N. 11th st, Payette. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 29th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel in Payette and Saturday, October 30th from 12:45 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the church. Internment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Raymond was born in Council, Idaho on February 1, 1923, the second son of William and Marie (Freehafer) McClure. The McClures moved to Payette in 1924 where another son and daughter joined the family. After graduating from Payette High School in 1941 he attended the University of Idaho studying agriculture. He joined the Navy in February 1943, training at Farragut NTS in northern Idaho and then served in the Pacific. After his discharge in February 1946 he returned to Payette.
He married Betty Miller on June 13, 1946. They returned to the U of I where he changed his major to Electrical Engineering. They had four children - the first, Barbara, was born in Moscow, Idaho July 1947, followed by their first son Bob, born April 1950 in Boise. Another daughter, Denise, was born in Idaho Falls June 1952. Danny their last child, was born May 1954, also in Idaho Falls. Raymond worked for over 30 years for Nuclear Power Plants all over the United States. The company transferred the family 25 times during those years. The 26th move was back to Payette after his retirement in 1987.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter Barbara Steinbauer (Tom) of Las Vegas and Sandpoint; son Bob McClure (Michelle) of Kansas City, Kansas; daughter Denise Allen (Bob) of Las Vegas; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother Jim McClure (Louise) of Boise; sister Betty Jean Parton of Eatonville, Washington. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Marie McClure; a 'special' Aunt, Mamie McClure (Auntie); and son Dan McClure.
