Mary Jennings Obituary

Mary Flora Jennings, 82 of Fruitland passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019 in Newfoundland, Canada. Mary Flora (Pye) Jennings, (October 12, 1936 -- June 20th, 2019) she was an angel on this earth and now an angel in heaven. We will all miss her beyond imagination. If you met her, knew her, loved her, then you were also loved by her. She was a mighty force, a rock to many, and a friend to everyone. There are many words that come to mind to describe her and what she stood for...Godly, Virtuous, Sincere, Kind, Loving, Generous, Selfless, Dedicated to name a few. She was born in Victoria, Newfoundland and was the birthday present to her 3 year old sister Joan Summers, that special bond would span a long lifetime and be the basis for many wonderful memories and annual birthday reunions of our Canadian and American families. As a young woman, she contemplated the ministry andworked on the naval base in Argentia, Nfld where she would meet her soul mate and the love of her life, Ronald Vernon Jennings, a tall, dark and handsome yankee sailor! After only a 3 month courtship (St Patricks Day was their first date) they were wed on June 20, 1959. They lived in Argentia where their first child was born on March 8, 1960, Timothy Eugene...later they moved to Idaho where Terry Paul would be born December 27, 1961...and finally during a stint in Charleston, So Carolina their only daughter Rhonda Jennings Wells would be born on May 1,1965. She was a proud grandma and great grandma and loved them all. As a military family, we moved on schedule about every 3 years and dad would finally retire in Fruitland Idaho around 1977, building a home on the land next door to his brother Dave Jennings.  Their retired life would provide them with many adventures and a full and active life together. They collected and sold antiques and would venture to Arizona as snow birds every year, go on cruises and travel, go camping and fishing and 4 wheeling, visit family and friends all over the US. they lived a full and happy live. It was during this recent trip to Newfoundland to once again visit her sister and her beloved nieces and nephews as well as extended family that she would say her final goodbyes to this earthly realm and enter into the eternal presence and loving arms of her Lord and Savior, a reunion that she spent her entire life in anticipation of. The timing of her passing to those she has left behind, has felt sudden and much too early, but we must find comfort and peace in knowing that her chosen day was part of the Lords plan, and he had a mighty andglorious celebration awaiting her, on her 60th wedding anniversary with her true love. We will miss you desperately, but we WILL see you again, until that day, you will be in our hearts and in our fondest memories. We love you forever mom. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 am at the Highway Worship Center in Fruitland on Friday, July 5, 2019. Vault interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery in New Plymouth. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday at the church from 9:30 am until the service time. Services are under the direction of the Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel, Payette.
