Welcome to the memorial page for

Marlin Griffin

October 1, 1957 ~ January 5, 2018 (age 60) 60 Years Old

Marlin Griffin went to be with his Heavenly Father January 5, 2018 with his family by his side.  Marlin was born on October 1, 1957 to Harold and Jaunita Griffin at Fairchild Air Force Base Hospital in Spokane Washington.

Marlin was a fighter.  He loved life and having many major operations he fought for every precious moment.  God has worked many miracles throughout his life.  He lived to see his 60th birthday and lived many years longer than Doctors predicted.

Upon first meeting Marlin you would see him as a paraplegic, you would soon get to know him as a charming, kind, intelligent and humble man and he would make you forget that he was in a wheelchair.

With his Father being in the Air Force he lived an extraordinary life in many different places throughout the USA and abroad such as Spokane WA, Philippines, Portland OR, Clearfield Utah, Hawaii, Ontario OR.  Looking back on his teenage years when he lived on Hickam Air Force Base Hawaii, Marlin was elected the President of Hickam Air Force Base youth group with 100 members.  He attended Radford High School in Honolulu Hawaii, and that was a great time for Marlin as he enjoyed all 4 years in one school and graduated in the top of his class. After High School he moved back to the mainland and he went two years at TVCC and then finished his bachelor’s degree in business on the campus of Eastern Oregon College in La Grand Oregon.  He often said that his High School and College held great memories for him.

Marlins first job was in Ontario working as a DJ for KSRV in the Moore Hotel.  Marlin also worked for Ernie’s Electric, then he moved on to his lengthy career as a commercial loan officer at First Interstate Bank and continued with Wells Fargo Bank with several moves in Oregon and Idaho, finally retiring in Ontario.

Marlin enjoyed meeting famous people and he often was in the newspaper with his wonderful smile.  Marlin had strength and a will to live that amazed Doctors, Nurses, Family and Friends.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Ontario.

Marlin was loved deeply and will be missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to thank Heart and Home and Genesis for their kindness, dedication and professional care.

Marlin is survived by his parents; Harold and Jaunita Griffin of Ontario, his only sibling Vicky (Dean) Solterbeck, three nieces, Julie of Portland, Oregon; Janell (Olin) of Eugene, Oregon; Jill (Zac)of Bend, Oregon and two great nieces and two great nephews.
