Harry Donald Hoch, 83, completed his earthly journey Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, with his family by his side.

He was born March 16, 1926, in Butte, Neb., to George Raymond and Mary Jane (Heikes) Hoch.
He attended school in Butte, graduating in 1943. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was a proud WW II Veteran.

Harry married the love of his life, Kathleen Lewis, on June 14, 1949, and together they raised eight children.

Harry was a graduate of the University of Idaho and was a life-long learner and educator. His long career in education began in 1954 in the vocational agriculture department in Payette.

In 1966, he moved to Ontario as an administrator at Treasure Valley Community College where he started the adult education nursing and paramedic program. He returned to teaching and ended his career at Wilder High School in 1990.
Harry was a member of Lions International and served as 39 W District Governor. His noteworthy projects include construction of several of Ontario’s baseball fields, the city flag project and the Conestoga covered wagon display. He was also an Ontario Ambassador and a member of the American Legion and Ontario 1690 BPOE Elks club.

His parents, and three brothers preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his wife of 60 years, Kathleen, and his children: Greg (Maureen) Hoch, Cindy (Gene) Fancher, David (Janice) Hoch, Pam (Dan) Hoots, Pat (Teresa) Hoch, Sue (Brian) Shields, Kevin (Mylynda) Hoch and Linda (Walt) Drechsler; 25 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; his sister, Verna Maxine Hayes; and brother, Conrad (Glenna) Hoch.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Four Rivers Cultural Center, 676 S.W. Fifth Ave, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Idaho-Eastern Oregon Sight and Hearing Foundation, Inc, or the Fruitland Heart and Home Hospice Foundation.
