Nadine Beverly Bales Bemrose passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010.  She was born in Enterprise, Oregon on June 24, 1927 to Fred and Gertrude Josephine Melotte Bales. She was the youngest of nine children. Her parents divorced when she was seven years old and she went to live with her older brother Robert while her mother went to look for work. After her mother remarried she went to live with her mother and step-father. In 1945 while visiting her uncle in Gooding,Idaho she met her future husband. Her uncle and aunt had gone into a bar and she was waiting on the sidewalk outside when a handsome cowboy came up to her and asked her if she could dance. She replied, “Well some say I can.” So he grabbed hold of her hand and said, “Well let’s go see.”, and hauled her off to the dance hall where they danced the night away. After the dancing was done, he said, “Well, it’s a good thing you knew how to dance.” James Clifford Bemrose and Nadine Beverly Bales were married on October 9, 1945 at Ely, Nevada. To this union eight children were born.

Nadine was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She often went without so her children could have what they needed. No sacrifice was too great if it was for her family. Life was never easy for her as money was always scarce, but she knew how to make things stretch so her family was never without the necessities. She was mostly a stay at home mom (although she did work at the corn processing plant in Payette one summer and worked at a prune packing plant on the Oregon Slope another summer) and loved every minute she spent with her family. In 1993 her husband Jim became ill and they moved from Enterprise, Oregon to Weiser, Idaho to live near their daughter Mary Jo. Nadine’s husband, Jim, passed away in 1995 after 49 years of marriage. She was so looking forward to their 50th anniversary but it was not to be, as Jim developed lung cancer and died 9 months before that event was to happen.

Nadine and her husband loved to go dancing in their younger years. They even won dance contests. They could out dance just about anyone. She was a good cook, loved to sew quilts for her grandchildren, she loved to read, especially romance novels. She loved to garden and canned what she grew. She could play a mean hand of pinochle and spent many a weekend playing into the wee hours of the morning. She loved pretty flowers and loved to collect knick-knacks that she would find at yard sales, which she used to decorate herhome and make it beautiful. But most of all she loved her family and welcomed any and all of them into her home. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. We know she has gone home to prepare a place for us so we can be together eternally.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Clifford Bemrose, her parents, four brothers, Joseph, Thomas, Robert, and William Bales, three sisters, Wenona Lachance, Dorothy Dugan, and a sister that died shortly after birth and was never named, and a son Frank Edward Bemrose.

She leaves behind to mourn her passing her children, Mary Jo Koeppen and Lyle of Weiser, Idaho, Jane E. Dunn and Doug of China Grove, North Carolina, James A. Bemrose of Midvale, Idaho, George Bemrose of Weiser, Idaho, Ken Bemrose and Jody of Redmond, Oregon, Beverly Sidoti of Redmond, Oregon, and Don Bemrose and Tasha of Twin Falls, Idaho, a sister Geraldine Towle of Vancouver, Washington, 26 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held Friday, July 30, 2010 at 11 am at the Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel in Payette with a viewing t be held 1 hour prior to the services at the chapel.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Weiser.

My thought and prayers go out to the family! Nadine was a lovely person and very kind. She will be remembered always. Remember that although their is pain and sorrow in your hearts she is no longer in pain and is in the comfort of heaven and will be waiting for all those she loved.

When you sorrow look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your DELIGHT.It has often been said that the grave you now see is a footprint of a new angel.May you all rest in the loving arms of GOD and allow His peace, comfort and strenght wash over you all.
In Loving Memory of MOM,

Jane and Doug Dunn
